Clarendon Place
Clarendon Place
Located in the Friendship neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Clarendon Place is the transformation of crime-ridden alley row houses into livable, for-sale housing. The project required examination of the existing urban context and made recommendations for tackling a full roster of issues: traffic and parking solutions, public open spaces, landscaping, and building renovation.
Three unit types were developed in the final plans, ranging in size from 1,300 square feet to 2,700 square feet. New porches were designed to engage the houses with the street, and to bring light and air to the front windows and entries. Inside, the units are opened up to accommodate modern lifestyles, and to visually expand the interior space.
