Pittsburgh Technology Center

Pittsburgh Technology Center

$0.00

Formerly the location of a mill for Jones & Laughlin Steel, this 48-acre riverfront site has become an exemplar in Pittsburgh’s shedding an image of heavy industry while embracing cutting edge research and technology. With a roster of corporate and university facilities already in place, demand for additional building parcels on site is forecast to exceed the supply. We designed the new land development plan, together with LaQuatra Bonci Associates, to increase density, and to weave, over time, an integrated and attractive campus.

By developing build-to lines in three dimensions, the spaces between buildings can become as much of an asset as the buildings themselves. Inter-building spaces will preserve vistas to the river, emphasize the riverfront trail, and create a new campus green space. This series of interconnected parks will be planted in groves of native trees and groundcover, enhanced with amenity-driven retail and dining options, and will tie into the riverfront trail system.

Pittsburgh Technology Center is positioned to be the region’s premier research and development center well into the next generation. It is planned as urban, with a greater degree of mixed use, and a strong, quality open space system to better create a sense of place.
