Steel City Rowing Club

Steel City Rowing Club

$0.00

From humble beginnings, the Steel City Rowing Club (SCRC) has grown to a membership of over 500, with numerous members winning national and international competitions. SCRC outgrew its original facility and asked us to help them devise a new one: 16,000 square feet to include boat storage, indoor training and work out areas, office space, and community/meeting rooms.

The building is designed to maximize energy efficiency and reduce operating costs for the club. This is accomplished through a geothermal system, radiant floor heating, natural ventilation, low-flow, dual-flush toilets, and waterless urinals. Other sustainable features include rainwater collection and a green roof terrace accessed from both the community and office spaces.

As the building is sited on the Allegheny River Floodplain, special measures are incorporated to insure minimal disruption during flood events, and provide for quick recovery afterwards.
